It all started with a baby…

Well, more accurately, a pregnancy. When I was younger (much younger), I dabbled in nail polish like any coming-of-age girl. I always loved painting my nails more so than going to the salon. Between my sister and I we probably had over 100 bottles between the two of us. We even tinkered with fake nails for awhile but as a young teenager I neither applied them very well or was able to keep them on without breaking them.
So as I got older and school, work and life took over, painting my nails fell to the wayside. It wasn’t until I was pregnant with my first child that I got back into it. I wanted a hobby to help with the stress of being pregnant and the terror that comes with knowing you’ll be a mom soon. I slowly started collecting polishes again and following nail bloggers to try my hand at nail art. I was soon spending a lot of my free time painting my nails, taking pictures of them, doing some blogging of my own. Rinse and repeat.
I grew tired of the same old colors I always saw in the stores. New colors just didn’t seem to come out very often. As I scoured the internet for new options I stumbled across research that talked about some of the chemicals in nail polish being linked to birth defects. Being very pregnant at the time, I did more research of my own and sure enough, some nail polish brands are made up of some not-so-nice things. In searching for alternatives I found smaller “indie” polish brands that had removed these chemicals from their polishes. I began the painting, picture, blog cycle all over again.
Turns out husbands tend to get a little irritated when their wives’ nails are always wet. So I decided to take a different turn and learn how to make polishes of my own. A little bit of research, trial and error, and more money than I care to say, Roar Nails was born. Two years and about 100 colors later, Roar Nails has been reborn (no pun intended) as AURORA 5-Free Nail Lacquer. Named after my daughter Aurora (and the inspiration behind this whole thing), AURORA 5-Free Nail Lacquer is my baby, so to speak. Every color I produce is carefully created with several hours, or even days, of sweat equity poured into them (not literally, ew). I put my heart and soul into these colors and I hope you love them as much as I do!
Sincerely,
